le-bain

Looking to take a break from a stressful week at work as well as the chaos from NYFW shows and events, I caught up with my friend Sarah at Le Bain at the über exclusive Standard Hotel.

Directly across from the legendary Boom Boom Room known only to the elite and VIPs, the first stop is the indoor bar surrounded head to toe in glass windows with a backdrop view of the NYC Skyline, Hudson River and One World Trade Center. The door policy is strict in terms of ID-checking, especially due to the high number of celebs that lounge around the area, so don’t even try to scam the bouncers if your under 21 and want to save yourself the embarrassment of being caught in front of notable people.

At the end of the bar lies a hot tub. Although it was empty when I got there, don’t shy away from bringing a bathing suit. The pool is known to get lively and busy during the hot summer months as well as the late night hours when the club comes to life. Sarah and I ordered a couple do Margaritas, that were $17 each, a good price considering the view, location, amenities and exclusivity!

To get to the rooftop, you need to take two flights of stairs up. Just like the rest of the hotel, the stairway up is no standard staircase. The red lighting gives a relaxing yet lively feel to walls covered in indie graffiti and there is a condom vending machine year round as well as a swimsuit vending machine during the summer months.

Once on the outdoor terrace, you find yourself standing on synthetic grass surrounded by comfy patio furniture, pale pink bar, huge coral, round waterbeds and beanbag chairs and some of the best views in NYC. Not to mention the creperie stand that serves freshly made crepes at any hour of the day.

A high line hotel, beer garden, dance club, pool and creperie – there is not much more that can make Le Bain exclusive as can be.

As for dress code, although the you can use the pool – the attire is almost always fancy. No jeans, t-shirts or ragged sneakers. Dress nice enough that if your standing next to someone important, you won’t look like a fish out of the water and fit right in.

Located in the heart of Meatpacking district, it’s a perfect location to begin or end your night as its surrounded by an abundance of clubs, bars and restaurants within walking distance.

After grabbing our happy hour drink after work at Le Bain, Sarah and I made our way a 5 minute walk from Le Bain to Gas Light for pizza and of course stopped by the famous Insomnia cookies to fill our dessert cravings (which Jamie Foxx had been spotted at buying cookies just 3 hours before..)!

So if your looking for a night of fun, celeb spotting, breathtaking views or clubbing – check out the Standard Hotel.
